Suzie Sayfie Inducted into Iron Arrow at University of Miami

Suzanne M. SayfieSuzie Sayfie, Executive Director of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, was inducted into Iron Arrow, the University of Miami’s highest honor and oldest tradition, on November 5, 2009.  The honor is bestowed upon individuals who best exemplify the five qualities of Iron Arrow: love of alma mater, character, leadership, scholarship, and humility.  Mrs. Sayfie has been dedicated to the University for many years, presently serving as executive director, but filling many other director roles within The Miami Project for the past 15 years.

Founded by University of Miami’s first president, Bowman Foster Ashe, in 1926 only a month after the University opened, the society is steeped in the rituals of the Seminole Indian tribe and honors individuals who best exemplify the qualities of Iron Arrow.  It is the University’s highest honor and can be granted to students, alumni, faculty, or staff. Iron Arrow members are easily identified by their distinctive Seminole jackets that are worn at official functions, including meetings, Homecoming, and tappings.
